Q: I have developed my product and uploaded it to the DMS. I want to put my product in production. What do I do?

A: First you need to contact Zentri to establish a DMS ‘customer’ account (as opposed to an individual developer login). Once the customer account is registered, your product will need to be associated with that customer.

Q: How do I get a customer account?

A: Request this from Zentri. This procedure can be performed only by Zentri DMS administrators.

Q: Now how do I associate my product with my customer account?

A: Request this from Zentri. This procedure can be performed only by Zentri DMS administrators. The product code prefix changes from your developer code prefix to your customer prefix.

Q: I want to put this product on two devices. What do I do?

A: Run the following commands on each device to claim the device, then activate the device to the product, then ota the product onto the device:

dms claim <dms username> <dms password>
dms activate  <product code>
ota

The dms username and password must belong to a user associated with the product customer account.

Q: I want to put this product on a first run of 500 devices. What do I do?

A: For a small run you can create an activation token. See Production Workflow, Use an Activation Token.

There is no limit to the quantity of devices specified for an activation token, but when the number is very large it may be more convenient to arrange a Purchase Order and have Zentri manage the manufacturing.

Q: Now how do I get the product on to the devices?

A: Purchase the devices required (e.g. from a distributor like Mouser or Digikey) and run the dms claim command to claim each device using the token. See Production Workflow, Use an Activation Token.

When you claim a device with a token, the DMS automatically activates and locks the device to the specified product.

Then use the ota command to put the latest version of the product on the device.

You can provide the token to a contract manufacturer (CM). The CM does not need a user name and password to access the DMS. They simply use the token. Once the specified number of devices has been claimed with the token, the token cannot be used to claim any further devices.

Q: I want to put this product on 10,000 devices. What do I do?

A: To do this you arrange a Purchase Order with Zentri. Zentri DMS administrators then create a workorder. A workorder is subject to MOQs (Minimum Order Quantities). Zentri arranges the manufacture of your devices and delivers the finished devices to you. The devices are registered in the DMS, claimed for the customer, the products are loaded, and the devices are locked to the product.

Q: What's the limit on device quantity for activation tokens?

A: There is no limit. You can request a Purchase Order for any quantity over the MOQ. You should request a Purchase Order when using an activation token becomes impractical for the quantity of devices you need to program with the product.
